Cloud Computing: Keeping Employee, Customer, and Confidential Information Safe

Cloud computing offers myriad advantages, from lower costs to improved manageability of applications to less maintenance.  But there are also numerous concerns about, among other important issues, data security and privacy, business continuity and disaster recovery, and loss of control.  Companies may not be comfortable transferring their data to a third party, especially sensitive information.  Employee data, such as payroll, health and other benefits data, customer data and a company’s own confidential data must be kept safe.  Companies must deal with privacy- and security-related due diligence as well as ensuring appropriate contractual protection.
