Olshan Names New Partner to Litigation Practice and Counsel to Tax & Personal Planning Practice

NEW YORK, December 19, 2017 – Olshan Frome Wolosky LLP today announced that Brian A. Katz has been promoted to Partner and Shirlee Y. Gordon has been promoted to Counsel, effective January 1, 2018.

Brian A. Katz will be a Partner in Olshan’s Litigation department, where he maintains a broad-based commercial litigation practice.  Mr. Katz has extensive experience in financial markets disputes, and represents financial institutions in litigation and advisory matters involving a variety of instruments and transactions, including high-profile clients facing securities actions in both federal and state courts.  Mr. Katz also represents lenders, private investment funds, real estate developers, and mortgage loan servicers in disputes and advisory matters involving commercial and residential real estate transactions and projects.  In addition, Mr. Katz maintains a comprehensive general commercial litigation practice, which encompasses the representation of various business entities and executives in a broad array of matters, including breach of fiduciary duty claims and other business torts, breach of contract, licensing, false claims act, employment, and other disputes growing out of business relationships and transactions.  Employing a keen focus on practical tactics to achieve favorable results, Mr. Katz is equally comfortable in the court room, alternative dispute resolution proceedings, or at the negotiating table.  He also maintains an active counseling practice geared towards assisting clients in minimizing and addressing litigation risk at all stages of the business and dispute resolution cycle.

Shirlee Y. Gordon will be Counsel in the Tax & Personal Planning department, where she represents clients in creating and administering trusts, planning and administering estates, handling probate matters, and advising on charitable giving as part of a comprehensive estate plan. She also drafts wills, living wills, healthcare proxies and powers of attorney. Ms. Gordon counsels clients on succession planning and other matters related to family limited partnerships, joint venture agreements and limited liability companies. Additionally, when disputes arise, she assists the Litigation department in prosecuting or defending estate-related claims.
