Olshan Litigation Practice Adds John G. Moon as Partner

Press Release

NEW YORK, February 1, 2018 – Olshan Frome Wolosky LLP today announced that John G. Moon has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation Practice.  Moon’s practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions, public companies and executives in commercial litigation, as well as civil and criminal investigations and proceedings brought by grand juries, the SEC, DOJ, CFTC, FINRA, and state governmental entities.

“We are thrilled that John has joined Olshan’s Litigation Practice,” said co-administrative partner Steven R. Gursky.  “John brings a deep bench of experience across the board from his positions at the SEC and the DOJ, as an Executive Director at UBS and a Principal Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and as a securities lawyer in private practice.  His insight and experience will be highly beneficial to our clients,” Gursky continued.

Prior to joining Olshan, Moon was a partner in the Financial and Securities Industries Practice at Miller & Wrubel, where he represented clients in securities regulatory matters and in complex civil litigation involving structured finance. He also represented financial institutions in civil disputes involving CDO's, CLO's and warehouse agreements. Immediately prior, Moon was the Executive Director of Litigation for the Americas Region for UBS Investment Bank in New York for five years. Moon also spent seven years as a Principal Consultant in the Banking, Finance and International Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Immediately following law school, Moon began a distinguished career in public service that included five years at the SEC as Enforcement Branch Chief and Staff Attorney and two years in the DOJ in Washington, D.C. as a prosecutor in the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division.

Actively engaged in speaking and writing for various industry organizations, Moon is also a frequent media commentator for media outlets, including The New York Times, PBS Frontline and Vanity Fair.

Moon earned an LL.M from Harvard Law School, his J.D. from Washington College of Law at The American University, where he was a Law Review Contributor and a Dean’s Fellow, and his B.A. magna cum laude from Dickinson College where he was a Dana Scholar and a recipient of the Charles M. Nisbet Memorial Scholarship.

Moon is actively involved in "Operation Backpack" which sustains under-served children in the Tuxedo Union Free School District, and he is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Tuxedo Park, NY.  Moon is a recent Member of the Board of Managers and Officer of the Harvard Club of New York City, as well as Board of Education Member for the Tuxedo Union Free School District.
