LaVerghetta Decision Listed Among Top 10 New York Business Divorce Cases of 2016
New York Business Divorce recently ranked the LaVerghetta decision, which was handled by Olshan attorneys Thomas Fleming and Mitchell Raab #5 on its annual list, “Top 10 Business Divorce Cases of 2016.” LaVerghetta v. Lawlor, a case to determine the fair-value of a minority interest in two limited liability companies with the objective of a buy-out of said minority shareholder, featured wildly disparate expert appraisals from both sides. The Court eventually reached an appraisal it deemed equitable, and, given the intricacies of the case, Peter Mahler, who compiled the Top 10 list for New York Business Divorce, hailed the case as a “magnum opus decision” that provides “valuable insights and guidance to lawyers and business appraisers in future cases.”
