Marks-Esterman Comments on The Judges Who Rule Over Real Estate
Olshan Litigation Partner Lori Marks-Esterman was quoted extensively in The Real Deal’s article entitled “The Judges Who Rule over Real Estate” for her expertise as a top New York City real estate litigator. Lori stated, “Our real estate cases almost exclusively start at, or are housed within, the Commercial Division…The commercial division judges are very familiar with real estate disputes and the players and the practicalities that go with New York State real estate litigation, as well as the implications.” Offering comment on Judge O. Peter Sherwood, she said that Sherwood is a “very vocal judge”, and that he will “jump right in and take control of his courtroom.” Lori also noted that Judge Sherwood reads the case documents closely so it would not be wise to simply recite what is already written during the oral arguments. Offering comment on Judge Saliann Scarpulla, a New York Supreme Court Justice assigned to the Commercial Division , Lori recognized the speed and efficiency that Judge Scarpulla rules with, stating, “[She has] a desire to push for a resolution to cut right to the chase.”
