Kenneth Mantel and Meagan Reda Featured on ABA's Asked and Answered Podcast on a Lively Q1 for Shareholder Activism and on Board Diversity
Olshan Shareholder Activism partners Ken Mantel and Meagan Reda were featured in an episode of the ABA's Asked and Answered podcast regarding shareholder activism and how it drives boards to monitor for and address CEO bad behavior and to increase board diversity. Meagan discusses the issues that arise when companies fail to update their board with diverse candidates, stating it “would be a huge mistake…. Any company that has a good advisor would tell them they need to be proactive before it's too late.” Ken continued on the thought, saying that board diversity is an issue that is “partly due to the work of activist investors, who are going out there and looking for ways to improve boards of directors and companies…. Other companies see that they don’t want to be in that hot seat [of being scrutinized for lack of diversity]...and they proactively take steps to address that issue.” "The boards of companies are no longer willing to put their seats on the line by ignoring the conduct, and now need to take proactive action, otherwise they're going to face severe consequences as well for failing to hold CEOs accountable for their misbehavior. It simply cannot be tolerated any longer, and the boards of companies are realizing this more and more,” Meagan said.
