Meagan Reda Interviewed in Northeastern Next Podcast on Pioneering the Future of Shareholder Activism
Olshan Shareholder Activism partner Meagan Reda was interviewed on the Northeastern Next podcast where she shared insights into Olshan’s Shareholder Activism Practice, discussed her upcoming panel at Harvard and offered advice to current Northeastern students. Meagan explained that shareholder activism is a global practice area that encompasses a diverse array of activists and strategies employed by activists, noting that in its most basic form, an activist investor is “utilizing its rights as a shareholder to effectuate or push for some type of change at the company,” which for many of her “value-driven” clients, means that they believe “the shares are not appropriately reflecting the value of the company.” As an activist attorney, Meagan further explains that she seeks to provide clients with a comprehensive analysis from the outset of their investment, providing “a pathway of what they can and cannot do as a shareholder” to help her clients accomplish their main objective. Meagan looks forward to participating in the upcoming Harvard Roundtable on Corporate Governance, which she explains is a forum “to discuss current issues addressing corporate governance” that involves a number of parties, including corporations and their advisors, as well as other practitioners and industry experts in her field.
