Olshan Announces Partner and Counsel Elevations, Proudly Recognizing Excellence and Talent
NEW YORK, December 20, 2023 – Olshan Frome Wolosky LLP is pleased to announce the elevations of Kerrin Klein, Jessica Stanton, Rebecca Van Derlaske and Joseph Weiner to partners, and Jacqueline Ma, Katherine Mateo and Dorothy Sluszka to counsel at the firm, proudly noting that six of the seven attorneys being elevated are women. These elevations are well deserved and have been earned through exceptional work and client service. The new positions will take effect on January 1, 2024.

Kerrin Klein will be a Partner in the Litigation Practice, where she represents public and private companies in commercial disputes. Kerrin takes a hands-on approach to all her cases, taking the lead in every step of the litigation process. She has extensive courtroom experience with issues in securities, corporate governance, employment, bankruptcy, intellectual property, and international cases and arbitrations. Kerrin received a Pro Bono Publico Award from the Legal Aid Society, recognizing her representation of a victim of human trafficking; she also won a Pro Bono Star Award from Human Rights First for her dedicated representation of asylum-seekers. Kerrin received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she served on the NYU Review of Law & Social Change, and her B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park, summa cum laude.
Jessica Stanton will be a Partner in the Real Estate Law Practice. She represents commercial developers, owners, tenants and landlords in a variety of real estate business and property issues. She focuses on representing landlords seeking office and retail space leases, including co-working arrangements, data center leasing, headquarters space and ground leases. Her client-focused approach helps to ensure streamlined agreement drafting and cost control for clients as she helps them grow their real estate portfolios. Jessica received her J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law, where she was the Conference Chair and Secretary of the Legal Association of Women Students, and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Florida.
Rebecca Van Derlaske will be a Partner in the Shareholder Activism Practice. She focuses on matters related to domestic and international activism, settlement negotiations, SEC filings, complex disclosure requirements, and mergers and acquisitions. Her background includes corporate bankruptcy, bond indentures, financing and credit agreements. Rebecca’s collaborative nature helps her arrange the best possible outcome even under pressure, creatively reaching win-win situations that benefit all parties involved. She received her J.D., summa cum laude, from William & Mary School of Law, where she served as the lead articles editor of the William & Mary Law Review and received her B.A., magna cum laude, from The College of William & Mary.
Joseph Weiner will be a Partner in the Litigation Practice. Joe’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, and in ADR settings. He represents a diverse client base in litigations involving contract breaches, business torts and unfair competition claims, with particular emphasis in disputes involving real estate, closely held businesses and advertising contracts. Joe joined the firm in 2018, and was promoted to Counsel in 2022. Joe received his J.D., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law, where he was associate editor of the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal. He earned his B.A., summa cum laude from New York University, Phi Beta Kappa, and was an NYU College of Arts and Science Presidential Honors Scholar.
Jacqueline Ma will be Counsel in the Litigation Practice. She specializes in activist shareholder litigation and corporate governance. Jacqueline represents investment funds, companies, and individuals in sophisticated securities and commercial litigation and government investigations. She pays attention to the fine details in her cases, taking an analytical and strategic approach, which helps her clients manage risk and favorably resolve disputes. Jacqueline monitors the latest developments in Delaware and other states’ corporate law, often providing clients with valuable insights into any developing litigation issues. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and the executive managing editor of the Journal of Gender and Law. Jacqueline earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Washington.
Katherine Mateo will be Counsel in the Litigation Practice. Her extensive background entails defending clients in single plaintiff and class-action matters in securities, contract disputes, intellectual property, bankruptcy, antitrust and toxic tort. Kat is well known for maintaining her poise under even the most intense of situations, including several matters involving complex civil litigations. Her goal is to keep the client’s best interests front and center and is eager to find cost-effective solutions to any legal issues. Kat is dedicated to a diverse workforce comprising more people of color, and currently serves on Olshan’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Kat received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, where she was an article editor of the Stanford Journal of Law, Science, and Policy and a senior editor at the Stanford Law and Policy Review. She received three B.As,. summa cum laude, in Physics, Political Science, and Philosophy from Macaulay Honors College (CUNY), where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
Dorothy Sluszka will be Counsel in the Shareholder Activism Practice. She offers legal guidance to hedge funds and other investors in matters concerning shareholder activism, proxy contests, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and other related matters. She leverages her extensive experience in SEC reporting, activist strategies and regulatory compliance to provide valuable guidance and representation to Olshan's clients, assisting them in navigating complex challenges. Dorothy received her J.D., cum laude, from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholarship Recipient and was a senior articles editor of the Cardozo Journal of International and Comparative Law. She received her B.A. from New York University.
