Daniel M. Stone

Experienced litigator Daniel Stone resolves complex business disputes in federal and state courts, and through arbitration and mediation proceedings.

Representing clients in sectors ranging from real estate to financial services in an array of matters, Dan offers astute business counsel and handles disputes relating to corporate governance, commercial contracts, and mergers and acquisitions. Diligent and skilled in drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, preparing witnesses, taking and defending depositions, and managing discovery, he takes cases from the complaint through trial.

Dan’s experience includes cases ranging from partnership disputes to cutting-edge cryptocurrency/blockchain litigation. As co-lead attorney for a real estate partnership founder, he achieved a prelitigation settlement worth tens of millions of dollars. He prevailed against a motion to dismiss in a groundbreaking case alleging market manipulation of the entire crypto-asset market. Dan also successfully defended a prominent private equity fund in a major Delaware Chancery trial, convincing the court that his client’s corporate acts were entirely fair. Further, he has represented numerous individuals before federal and state prosecutors and regulators.

In each case, Dan quickly gets up to speed. He learns the clients’ objectives and the intricacies of their businesses, evaluates the risks and benefits of litigation, and helps determine the best course of action to achieve the client’s goals.

Before joining Olshan, Dan served as Managing Director of Underwriting for a litigation funder, where he analyzed and stress-tested various litigations and potential litigations for viability and collectability. The assessment skills he honed in that role enhance his ability to set his clients on a path to resolve disputes most effectively. Dan’s pre-Olshan experience also includes litigating at a major New York law firm and a litigation boutique, as well as serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge Janet C. Hall, United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
