Throughout his career, Lawrence Friedland has represented clients in purchasing, leasing and selling premier properties throughout New York City and across the nation. Clients also rely on him for tax-efficient estate planning and business succession strategies.
For more than 60 years, Lawrence has counseled and represented private companies, high-net-worth individuals and families on corporate, tax, real estate, and future personal and business planning. From long-term ground leases to the purchase and sale of iconic properties in New York City, Lawrence has handled some of the most significant real estate deals during his career.
Lawrence has invested alongside clients and often serves as a co-general partner or co-managing member in partnerships. He takes a business-savvy approach, negotiating and structuring real estate deals and helping his clients build solid portfolios of properties, and minimize their tax exposure. Clients also regularly turn to Lawrence for help in managing corporate matters and in planning their future, both in terms of their business holdings and personal wealth transfers.
Lawrence served on the board of Apple Bank for Savings and Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. Before joining Olshan in late 2001, Lawrence was a managing partner of Hoffinger Friedland Dobrish & Stern.
- Negotiated the $115 million purchase of the Delmonico Hotel in the heart of New York City.
- Negotiated the purchase, lease renegotiation, and renovation of the Lever Brothers building, the 307-foot-tall office building at 390 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The $100 million project involves overhauling the public plaza, renovations to the main lobby, ventilation and sustainability systems improvements, and the addition of new amenity spaces.
- Negotiated a 200-year lease for a portion of the land located under Crown Plaza Hotel, New York, New York.
- Negotiated the purchase of the fee position at One Penn Plaza, the tallest building in Pennsylvania Plaza’s complex of office buildings.
- Negotiated the purchase of the land and buildings located at 405, 430, 450 and 750 Park Avenue.
- Negotiated the purchase and co-op conversion of 605, 715, 969 and 1155 Park Avenue.
