IP Talk Blog Features Mary Grieco on CJEU Privacy Shield Invalidation

The post concerns the Court of Justice of the European Union’s (CJEU) invalidation of the adequacy decision between the U.S. and the E.U. regarding their data protection systems which were allowing the transfer of European personal data to the U.S. after registration of the US companies on the Privacy Shield register. On July 16, 2020, the CJEU determined that the Privacy Shield transfer mechanism fails to provide the adequate level of protection required under EU law.
